Meet Melissa
Non-romantic relationship coach
MY STORY
The ten years prior to that had given me little time to focus on much besides my ophthalmology training and raising my children. I found myself lonely at work and in life. I was overthinking social interactions. I had a loud inner critic who had an opinion about most things. I was plagued with imposter syndrome. Sitting at home with not much to do, the narrative just got louder. With coaching, I learned that my thoughts were simply a lens through which I interpreted my life and they're not always true.

THE PROBLEM
High achieving women set a high bar for themselves and everyone in their lives. This can set them up for failure and disappointment when others or they themselves cannot live up to those expectations.
SPOILER ALERT
The expectations we set for ourselves and others are not black and white/right or wrong. We can learn to reframe and evaluate situations from different perspectives.

MY APPROACH = FINDING YOUR APPROACH
My style of coaching is to help my clients navigate their relationships in a less reactive and more neutral way. I teach you a variety of tools to navigate your thoughts and feelings to determine your best course of action. I want my clients to be able to step into their own authority and control their brains in a way that feels natural to them. I want them to walk away from situations feeling proud that they navigated it on their own. My job is not to find the answers but to help you find your own. In addition to traditional coaching tools, I want you to discover and learn how to trust yourself.

WHY CHOOSE ME?
I've had a lifelong love for the human mind and the gift we have for connection and emotion. That led me to my master's in clinical psychology before moving onto my medical training. I am constantly learning so I can bring you science-based, practical strategies to help you find your best you.

A WORD ON LIFE
Coaching is not meant to eliminate negativity from your life. There is no escaping the human experience. I can teach you how to process emotions and to use them as a guide to your personal situation. I can help you use the combination of your emotions and thoughts to get you into your wise brain. My hope is that you can take those tools into your life so that you don’t need coaching forever.

Does that sound amazing? Let's set up a free call to see if we make a good match.
My Journey
I began my life coaching journey looking to feel better during a rough spot in my life. I discovered
-
The lens I was viewing the world through was in victim mode.
-
I had minimal fulfilling relationships with other women.
-
I had put myself on the back burner to my family and career.
-
I felt invisible at work
Now
-
I see the world through a more neutral lens. I still have reactive moments. I still have negative emotions.
-
I am quicker at catching myself when I switch into old habits.
-
I feel better.
-
I have noticed that people approach me more frequently as a leader.
-
I still struggle to have my voice heard as a woman in a male-dominated professional community. By understanding it’s not about me personally, I can continue to work patiently and persistently.
-
If an idea I present is rejected, I don’t make it mean that I’m being rejected.
-
I’m not perfect. I continue to work on skills. Every. Single. Day.

Sound good? I would love to see if we are a good fit to work together.
